mmm Korean food

I had the yummiest dinner tonight. One of the perks of having a Korean mother is getting to eat yummy korean food mmhmm. What's even better is having her bring it over so that I don't have to cook. We had bugolgi and rice and kimchi jee-gae..um, ok I really don't know how to spell that, i'm just sounding it out. The point being, it was good.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. I'm going to give up soda, all varieties, for the 40 days. It's not going to be easy because I like to have one soda a day during lunch, a diet pepsi. My kid is going to give up chips, which he also has a bag of at lunch every day. Actually, that's not quite true..he takes the chips but he has a habit of trading out his lunch for other peoples school lunches. Can you believe he is the only kid in his class that brings home lunch to school? He's pretty proud of that fact, I guess everyone fights to trade with him everyday because school lunches aren't the greatest anymore. He only trades if there is something really good, like pizza or egg rolls or beef fingers(shudder). We'll see if the carrot sticks he's taking in place of the chips are going to be a hit, i'm thinking no one is going to want to trade their fries for them.

Update: I switched from giving up soda to giving up snacking between meals..I figured it would be more of a challenge, and boy is it.

You are so lucky to have a Korean mom! I love Korean food!!!! The best is all those side dishes, kim-chee, shredded diacon, etc. Just reading your post makes my mouth water!

Aloha
